This is such a good topic, Anna~ Overpopulation just seems like an issue that's getting bigger and bigger (no pun intended, hehe). I heard those rumours about children being killed in China to avoid punishment... I really hope that's not true!
ReplyDeleteah! thank you!
DeleteYes, sadly there are children being killed/aborted in china.
Here's one story if you would like to read more. http://world.time.com/2012/07/13/china-forced-abortion-victim-awarded-11200-fears-for-life/
I think that having a one child policy is good but i don't believe it is right to forcfully abort a child against the mothers wishes, yes, they had disobeyed the law but the government has no right to do what they did (maybe find some other punishment?), kinda makes me wonder where 'human rights' have gone to. but thank you for raising the topic.
Oh, my God! That's so horrible! D:
DeleteI understand that having a "one child" policy may be good in terms of regulating population, but this punishment seems far too harsh. It really does transcend overpopulation issues and straight into human rights!
Sadly, thats reality.
DeleteOverpopulation has quite a few stings attached to it which makes it a difficult problem to overcome.
Hopefully people use 'family planning' more instead, it's much more safer/better/positve that way, and i'm pretty sure it's not good for a woman to have too much abortions. \(*-* )/
(hopefully i don't sound like a feminist too much)
Hey anna, I think over population is indeed a global problem. Like you mentioned, the resources are depleting, its true. & This could definitely apply China, the most populated country on earth, as long ago, before the one child policy, many people died due to starvation, and that could have been much worse right now, if that one child policy didnt exist. Now heres a thing I was thinking about, as a fact that the medical technology is more and more advanced nowadays, more people are able to live longer(discovery of cures, new medicines etc). Now I know that if the average life expectancy rises, that could increase the population overall. So what do u think about that? Is the advancement of medical technology a good thing?
ReplyDeleteIt's inevitable for medical technology to get better because humans are constantly discovering creating new things.
DeleteAn improvement in medical technology doesn't neccesarily mean the population numbers will increase, it'll only increase the life span of humans, not the birthrate in which humans are born.
In countries such as America for example, they have good medical treament for their people but their but birthrate has begun to drop. This had no link with medical technologies but with the America's economy, the families could not afford to raise children.
Here's online article to read if your curious:

I believe that improving medical treatment is a good thing because people are able to get more out of life, it's a waste to die young from a cold or flu like the old days, but this is only my opinion.
Thank you for raising this topic.
